What’s New in Dynamics 365 for PSA (Project Service Automation) in the Fall 2016 Release.
The Fall 2016 release of Dynamics 365 for PSA marks the second major release of the project service automation solution from Microsoft. Microsoft continues to aggressively invest in PSA as a key part of their unified services vision within Dynamics 365. The Fall 2016 release included a number of enhancements, and we wanted to share just a few of our favorite new features with you.
- Microsoft Project integration:With a new PSA add-in for Microsoft Project, you can now do all of your project planning in Microsoft Project, and then publish the project plan into Microsoft Dynamics 365 for PSA. You can also bring a project that you started in Microsoft Dynamics 365 for PSA into Microsoft Project to finish your planning work, and then publish it back to Microsoft Dynamics 365 for PSA when you’re done. This is a great new feature for project managers who like to use the more advanced planning features of Microsoft Project when building a detailed project plan, but also need to manage aspects of that project in Dynamics 365.
- Consolidated calendar view:The Fall release introduces a consolidated view of all scheduled activities, whether they be project assignments, field service work order assignments, or even personal appointments. These are consolidated on your Office 365 Exchange calendar. This not only brings together a rare feature of integrated project and field services schedules, but also makes it easier for you to manage your entire day, since all your meetings, appointments, bookings, and tasks are all now in your Office 365 calendar. You can also capture personal appointments in Microsoft Dynamics 365 for PSA time entry view, which helps increase employee efficiency and streamlines time reporting.
- Copy functionality:Now you can copy information from the Opportunity, Quotes, and Project Contracts forms by simply clicking on a Copy button on the command bar, and pasting the information into a different record. This is a great time saver for users that manage tasks and transactions that are similar from project to project.
